The mental health problems of primary and secondary school students have attracted the attention of the whole society. According to the "China Youth Development Report", among children and adolescents under the age of 17 in China, about 30 million people suffer from various emotional disorders and behavioral problems. The "growing pains" of children urgently need the attention and guidance of schools and parents. In September 2021, in order to help students develop mental health, Golden Eagle China launched the Founder's Day fundraising event, calling on employees to donate their love, and the group matched the donations at three times the amount of employees' donations. On this basis, in early 2022, Golden Eagle China officially launched the primary and secondary school mental health education project. The project cooperates with the Institute of Psychology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences to introduce professional mental health education courses. It promotes the physical and mental health development of students through four aspects: training key teachers of school psychological education, developing school mental health education courses, conducting online and offline parent training, and assessing student mental health. It supports schools in establishing a professional and diversified mental health service system and promotes the sustainable development of local mental health education. The project carries out mental health education activities in Rizhao, Jiujiang, Putian, Suqian, Xinhui and Liyang.
Up to now, the mental health education project for primary and secondary schools has covered more than 170 primary and secondary schools in six cities, including Liyang, Rizhao, Jiujiang, Putian, Suqian and Xinhui, trained more than 680 key teachers for school mental health education, provided mental health courses for more than 6,100 primary and secondary school students, and attracted more than 2 million parents of students to enter the public welfare live broadcast room to listen and benefit.Since the project was launched, it has been recognized by education departments, schools, teachers and parents. Li Li, deputy director of the Social Affairs Bureau of Rizhao Economic Development Zone, believes that the project has significantly improved the professional knowledge and operational level of teachers' mental health education. Parents who have participated in the class also said that the parent lectures for the college entrance examination and the senior high school entrance examination are very good and can help parents better understand, accompany, communicate and support their children. In 2023, Asia Pacific Suncity (Shandong), a subsidiary of Golden Eagle Group, won the "2023 Golden Key - China Action Honor Award for SDG" for this project. In the future, the project will further promote schools to carry out mental health education courses, while focusing on impact evaluation to provide data support for the education department to promote related projects.
