As the penetration rate of new energy vehicles continues to increase, competition in the market segments is becoming increasingly fierce, and vehicle prices are continuing to fall.

On August 3, Geely Galaxy E5, the first pure electric SUV in Geely Galaxy series, was launched. The new car has a total of 5 models, with a limited-time suggested retail price of 109,800 to 145,800 yuan.

It is worth noting that more and more automakers are turning their attention to A-class pure electric SUVs. Specifically, after the Geely Galaxy E5 was launched, it also faced challenges from Chery iCar 03, GAC Aion V, BYD Yuan PLUS and other models. Compared with the current best-selling A-class pure electric SUVs, the Geely Galaxy E5 has a certain price advantage.

"There are more and more new energy vehicles, but fewer and fewer high-quality ones," said Gan Jiayue, CEO of Geely Auto Group. "We believe that automakers must adhere to long-termism and cannot ignore product quality and safety or harm consumers' long-term interests with low quality and low prices. Competition in the auto industry should be benign, with the goal of meeting the diverse needs of different users."

In terms of configuration, Geely Galaxy E5 has been further optimized and upgraded in terms of styling, space, intelligence, performance, etc. It is equipped with GEA intelligent new energy architecture, G-TCS all-weather anti-skid system, Galaxy 11-in-1 intelligent electric drive, full-stack self-developed "Magic Cube" thermal management system and other technologies.

For a long time, consumers in the A-class pure electric SUV market have been very concerned about battery safety and power consumption. In response, Geely Galaxy E5 is the first to be equipped with the Aegis Dagger battery. In the "8-needle puncture" test, the battery did not smoke, catch fire, or explode after 1 hour. In terms of power consumption, the IGBT electric drive efficiency of Geely Galaxy E5 reaches 90.04%, and the power consumption per 100 kilometers reaches 11.9kWh.

With the launch of Geely Galaxy E5, Geely Galaxy's product matrix of "electric hybrid + pure electric" and "sedan + SUV" has been further improved. In addition, the launch of Geely Galaxy E5 may also boost brand sales.

Data shows that in July 2024, Geely Galaxy sales were 16,704 units, a month-on-month increase of about 5% and a year-on-year increase of more than 66%. From January to July 2024, Geely Galaxy's cumulative sales reached 98,125 units, a year-on-year increase of more than 397%.
