In the Water Cube Curling Hall, young Chinese were divided into two groups and four teams to compete in the curling competition. These young people came from 16 countries and regions and were contestants and cultural ambassadors of the 2024 "Cultural China·Water Cube Cup" Chinese Singing Competition.
On August 5, the 2024 "Cultural China Water Cube Cup" International Youth Study Camp opened. The campers followed the guide to visit the donated exhibition hall and the Olympic Competition Hall, and learned about the construction process of the Water Cube, the structure of the venue, and the "water-to-ice conversion" technology. They also went to the curling hall to learn about the curling scoring method and throwing movements.

"It's fun to play curling with friends of the same age." said Chen Yiyang from the Montreal competition area in Canada.
This is the second time that Chen Yiyang has participated in the Water Cube Chinese Singing Competition. In the final, she sang Yao Beina's "Fish" and won the silver medal. She participated in the Water Cube competition in 2020, but was not well prepared at that time. For her, this competition can be regarded as making up for the regret.
At school, Chen Yiyang joined an a cappella choir and would also arrange songs. Lin Bing, a Chinese-Icelandic female singer, is one of Chen Yiyang's favorite singers. Chen Yiyang said that because they are of similar age, Lin Bing's lyrics always touch her. She has also arranged Lin Bing's songs into a cappella six-part chorus.
"I like to make friends with people who love music." Chen Yiyang said that she was excited to come to Beijing to exchange music and travel around Beijing with her peers. She came to Beijing in 2013, but due to a tight schedule, she was unable to visit the Water Cube. When she came to Beijing again 11 years later, she found that the air had become better and the city was cleaner. She also took pictures of the changes here to show her parents.
Jiang Mingjie from the Los Angeles competition area in the United States feels that Beijing has become more "intelligent" and the unmanned self-service supermarket has left a deep impression on her. When she first came to Beijing in 2019, Jiang Mingjie ate Peking duck and climbed the Great Wall. "I climbed during the day, but this time I felt very different touring the Great Wall at night. The night view of Badaling has a unique flavor." Jiang Mingjie said.
Jiang Mingjie sang "I Waited Until the Flowers Withered" in the final and won the bronze medal. Jiang Mingjie said that she likes to listen to lyrical pop songs, and Jay Chou and Deng Ziqi are her favorite singers. She often exchanges Chinese and English playlists with her American friends. One of her good friends fell in love with Zhou Shen's songs when listening to "Big Fish" with her.
Jiang Mingjie said that she likes to listen to Chinese songs and study Chinese lyrics and music, and she thinks the lyrics are very touching. Perhaps it is because her father often told her Chinese historical stories when she was a child, such as "Peach Blossom Spring" and "Hongmen Feast", which made her have an inexplicable liking for Chinese.
"I also want to learn arrangement and composition in the future, so that I can express my emotions more accurately and convey the story I want to tell to the audience," said Jiang Mingjie.
