Introduction

The owner of this room wanted to make it a bedroom rather than a "nest".

The room measures 2.7 x 3.2 meters. According to general design ideas, this room should be able to accommodate a 130-150cm bed and a wardrobe, but the designer decided not to do so after seeing the traditional layout of the room.

So how should this room be designed to function as a bedroom?

Traditional layout problem.

In the traditional design, the wardrobe is right at the entrance, the mattress is placed against the wall near the window, the head of the bed is against the wall, the foot of the bed is in the center of the space, and there is walkable space next to the bed.

The design concept is to ensure the placement of the bed first, then ensure that the bed is accessible, and finally consider other things.

This practice can be seen in many decorations that are stable and unoriginal.

But what exactly is wrong with this arrangement?

The first is the inconvenience of transportation.

The bed is placed against the wall, which only ensures passage in one direction, and there is no space for passage on the other side.

The bed is not designed to be barrier-free. Generally speaking, the height of the bed is equivalent to the position of a person's knees, so the height of the bed poses a certain obstacle to people, and it is even easy to bump into it.

Even if the elderly at home are careful, they can still bump into the bed when they get up to go to the toilet at night.

The second is the inconvenience in space utilization.

The bed is placed against the wall. Apart from leaving a path at the end of the bed where a low cabinet can be placed, the space next to the bed cannot be used at all.

However, if the bed is placed in the center of the room, with the head against the wall and the foot of the bed facing the door, you can set up a larger wardrobe in the area at the end of the bed. As long as the passage direction is not next to the door, it will not affect the opening of the door. In this way, not only can a comfortable passage space be guaranteed, but also the space next to the bed can be utilized.

The third is that the layout is not aesthetically pleasing.

The bed is placed against the wall, and the head of the bed is a place where dust easily accumulates. If it is not taken care of for a long time, the dust will be very obvious.

At the same time, the switches and sockets on the wall are not well designed, as they may affect the opening of the door at the end of the bed.

The fourth is the lack of functionality.

If the bed is placed against the wall, one side of the bed will lack functionality and nothing can be placed on it. There will be no storage space and no decorative space.

However, if the bed is placed in the center of the room, some other space can be set up on one side of the bed, such as a desk, storage cabinet, etc.

This design not only brings a certain aesthetics to the room, but also increases the functionality of the room.

However, placing the bed in the center of the room also has certain disadvantages, namely that it attracts a lot of dust.

The bed is placed in the center of the room, with passageways on both sides of the bed. There is no room for anything on the ground to ensure the convenience of passage, and dust often falls on the passageway.

But there is a solution to this problem, just take care of it regularly.

So what is the specific design plan for placing a bed in the center of the room?

In this room, the designer placed the bed in the center of the room, that is, as mentioned before, the bed was placed in the center of the room, with the head of the bed against the wall and the foot of the bed facing the door.

However, the designer did not choose an ordinary bed, but instead chose a customized 1.8-meter platform bed.

The benefit of a custom bed is that it can be tailored to the needs of the person who occupies it.

The homeowner is 1.76 meters tall, and a 1.8-meter bed is just right for him and can also provide him with a better sleeping experience.

It can also functionally meet his other needs in bed. For example, if he likes to read in bed, then such a big bed can provide him with a larger space for him to enjoy himself.

At the same time, choosing a platform bed can also avoid the problem of dust.

The height of a platform bed is generally not very high, about 30 cm, so it will not cause any obstacles for the homeowner to get in and out of bed. At the same time, the bottom of the platform bed is empty and will not accumulate dust.

Optimize design solutions.

In this room, the designer did not first select the location of the bed. Instead, he measured the room many times to find the best location for the bed, and then optimized the design of the room based on this location.

There is a window in the room, but there is no space under the window, so the designer leaves the area under the window empty, so that it will not affect the normal opening and closing of the window, and there will be no problem of dust falling.

After choosing the efficient position of the bed, the designer designed the bed.

The shape of the bed is very comfortable, it won't scratch you, and there are no sharp places for dust to fall.

The bed is surrounded by very comfortable soft fabric decoration, which can prevent people from accidentally hurting themselves by touching the surroundings while resting.

Next to the bed is the bed frame, which is the structural component of the bed and can ensure the stability of the bed. The designer also embedded a sensor light under the bed frame. When the homeowner gets up at the end of the bed to go to the toilet, the sensor light below will automatically light up, making it more convenient to get up at night.

At the head of the bed is a half-height wood veneer headboard. The width of the room is not enough to place a soft headboard, so the designer adopted this half-height wood veneer headboard design.

This can not only be used as a bedside cushion, but also can decorate the room and soundproof, while also providing the homeowner with a certain amount of storage space.

In order to achieve the purpose of suppressing space and sound insulation, the designer built a storage area in the wooden veneer headboard, which can be used to place some books, magazines, etc.

The wood veneer section at the head of the bed is the dark color of the floor, which complements the overall design style of the room.

The sensor light under the bed can be turned off when there are objects under the bed, and turned on when there are no objects under the bed. When there are objects under the bed, the light is invisible, but when there are no objects under the bed, the light will illuminate the floor of the room, allowing the homeowner to see the location of the objects clearly in the dark.

On one side of the bed, the designer placed a row of tall cabinets and a low bedside cabinet. The low bedside cabinet is mainly used to place small items, while the tall cabinet is used to store items.

There is a certain amount of empty space where the tall cabinet and the wooden veneer headboard are connected. This is also specially designed by the designer to place some decorative items, allowing the homeowner to personalize the room and enhance the personalized expression of the room.

The upper part of the tall cabinet is the clothing storage area, and the lower part is the idle item area. There are also storage drawers, so the space is very abundant.

There is also a desk on the other side of the tall cabinet. The desk is connected to the wardrobe to facilitate the arrangement of the study area, which is convenient for the homeowner to use when studying.

There is also a storage cabinet under the table, where you can place some unused items, increasing the practicality of the room.

Conclusion

Throughout the optimization design, the designer took into account not only the functionality of the room, but also the comfort, practicality and aesthetics of the room to create a perfect bedroom for the homeowner.
