Beijing News: According to the WeChat public account "Customs Release" on August 4, recently, the Daxing Airport Customs under the Beijing Customs found an abnormal image of a passenger's suitcase during the supervision of inbound flights. The passenger chose to go through the customs without declaration channel. After the on-site customs officer opened the box for inspection, he found a total of 7 suspected animal leathers covered with clothes in his suitcase, with a net weight of 15.3 kilograms. Upon questioning, the passenger admitted that the above items were African elephant skins. After the on-site customs officer explained the relevant regulations to the passenger, the above items were handed over to the follow-up department for processing.



Customs reminder: According to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora and the Wildlife Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, African elephants are protected species listed in Appendix I or II of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), and are prohibited from entering or leaving the country. Except for those who legally hold the "Import and Export Permit Certificate" and go through customs formalities in accordance with regulations, it is prohibited to trade, carry, or mail endangered species and their products into or out of the country. Those who commit serious crimes will be held criminally liable in accordance with the law.
