According to the news from Linjiang News on August 1, the reporter learned from the Linjiang Municipal People's Government Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters that on July 24, Xia Kun, the deputy mayor and director of the Public Security Bureau of Linjiang City, who lost contact during the flood control and disaster relief work in Naozhi Town, Linjiang City, was found on July 31 with no vital signs and died on duty. Another missing person, Li Xiangshen, is still being searched and rescued.

According to Linjiang News, heavy rainfall in some parts of Linjiang City on the evening of July 24 caused a natural disaster of mountain torrents and geological disasters. Xia Kun, deputy mayor of Linjiang City and director of the Public Security Bureau, and five others were in danger during the flood rescue and disaster relief efforts. Three of them were rescued, while Xia Kun and auxiliary police officer Li Xiangshen lost contact. After the incident, the province and the city organized multiple rescue teams for emergency search and rescue.
