People familiar with the matter told The Washington Post that Dunn will work on Future Forward and coordinate with Harris' campaign.

Dunn is a senior Democrat who first entered the White House in 1978 and worked for then-US President Carter. She participated in former US President Obama's campaign in 2008 and 2012, and served as White House communications director in 2009. In 2015, Dunn provided campaign advice to Biden, but Biden decided to give up the 2016 US election at that time.

During the 2020 US presidential election, Dunn played a core role in Biden's team. The New York Times said that in the early stages of the election, Biden suffered an "embarrassing defeat" within the Democratic Party, but the campaign strategy formulated by Dunn ultimately helped Biden turn the tide and win the Democratic presidential nomination. After Biden took office, Dunn began working in the White House in January 2021, serving in two temporary positions. In 2022, Dunn resigned from the Democratic consulting firm SKDK and officially served as a senior adviser to the US President. Dunn has been criticized by some Democratic donors for Biden's poor performance in the first debate of the 2024 US presidential election last month. Harris' campaign team said on the 30th that Harris will hold her first rally with her running mate in Pennsylvania on August 6.
