According to Fast Technology on July 31, blogger Digital Chat Station hinted that the Redmi K80 Pro will be equipped with an ultrasonic screen fingerprint, just like its big brother Xiaomi 15 series, while the standard version of Redmi K80 will be an optical fingerprint.

In principle, the implementation of ultrasonic fingerprint and mainstream optical fingerprint is almost the same, both use the reflected imaging of screen light to identify a person's fingerprint information.

When the user's hand presses on the screen, the reflected light returns to the sensor below the screen through the pixel gap. Since the fingerprint itself is uneven, the reflected light is also different. The algorithm is then used to compare the previously input fingerprint image to achieve accurate recognition.

However, ultrasonic fingerprint can further utilize the unique pulse reflection characteristics of ultrasound to generate corresponding 3D depth data in real time. It can measure the distance between the fingerprint surface and the skin, and thereby determine the fingerprint pattern. Therefore, whether the fingerprint is clean, dirty, wet or located under the skin, it can be accurately collected.

In addition to supporting ultrasonic fingerprint, the Redmi K80 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4 platform and uses a 2K OLED flexible straight screen. This will be Redmi's most powerful high-end flagship.

The standard version of Redmi K80 is expected to be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen3 platform, and the screen is also a 2K straight screen. The new product will be launched in Q4 this year.
