Friends, do you think Xiaomi has restored the glory of the "small-screen flagship"?

Nowadays, when it comes to small-screen flagships, many people think of Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 14. However, the standard versions of other manufacturers such as iPhone, ASUS Zenfone series and Samsung S series also focus on small screens, but due to various restrictions and positioning, their configurations have been more or less castrated.

You have to admit that the product manager of the Xiaomi digital series is really a genius. The 6.36-inch straight screen, 71.5mm width, Leica imaging, wireless fast charging, excellent screen quality and top-level processor make Xiaomi 13/Xiaomi 14 the new generation of nail households in the eyes of netizens.

In simple terms, the configurations of Xiaomi's products are better than Xiaomi's, more expensive than Xiaomi's, and those cheaper than Xiaomi's products are not as good as Xiaomi's. It's no wonder that Xiaomi's two previous small-screen flagships sold well.

But, I have to say but, it’s already 2024, will there still be manufacturers making a small-screen flagship with a lot of hardware?

Hey, you know what, there really is one, and there is more than one.

With the success of Xiaomi's "small-screen flagship" strategy, many mobile phone manufacturers have smelled an opportunity. There are already reports that OPPO and vivo will also launch small-screen flagships. Could it be that the spring of the small-screen party has finally arrived?

First, let's take a look at OPPO Find X8. According to leaks, the screen size of the phone will be around 6.4-6.5 inches, and it will also use a top-level domestic 1.5K straight screen, but it is not yet certain whether it is a pure straight screen or an equal-depth micro-curved screen. After all, OPPO calls this micro-curved screen "four-curved soft-edge straight screen" on Reno12. In any case, the feel and appearance of Find X8 should not be bad.

For the specific screen quality, you can refer to Find X7. The new phone will go a step further in screen material and eye protection, and also support ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology.

As for the imaging configuration, Find X8 is more of a full-scale benchmark against Xiaomi Mi 15, using a combination of a 50MP large-bottom main camera + a 50MP small-bottom ultra-wide-angle + a 3× mid-bottom periscope. It is currently known that Xiaomi Mi 15 will use a 3X vertical telephoto lens, and OPPO's large-bottom low-light telephoto lens will definitely be more than one level better than it in terms of overall quality.

In addition, according to leaked information, Find X8 will have more advantages in battery and heat dissipation.

It is reported that the battery capacity of Find X8 is likely to reach about 5700mAh, and it also supports 100W fast charging. In this way, the Find X8, a small straight-screen smartphone, is quite terrifying.

This is not all. In the second half of the year, vivo will also launch a small-screen flagship vivo X200. The body size will also be around 6.4-6.5 inches, and the screen shape will be changed from a perpetual curved screen to an ultra-narrow straight screen. However, it does not support ultrasonic fingerprint recognition but uses an optical under-screen fingerprint recognition solution.

There is no definite news about the imaging configuration at present. It is known that it will use a 3x periscope lens and a self-developed V3 imaging chip, plus Zeiss and Blueprint imaging tuning. In this way, the X200 is likely to be the next small-screen flagship with the best photography capabilities.

In addition, just today, the real picture of what is suspected to be X200 was also exposed. The back is still the familiar big circle design, but the small size of the body and the "Oreo" design will definitely affect the feel. In addition, it is a bit aesthetically fatigued. What do you think?

Let’s talk about the hardware configuration of the two mobile phones. If nothing unexpected happens, they should both be MediaTek Dimensity 9400. The specific performance should be not much different from Xiaomi’s Snapdragon 8Gen4, but the premise is that Qualcomm does not fail.

Finally, I have to talk about the systems of the three small-screen flagships, Pengpai...well, I wish it good luck.

Color OS continues to optimize animations and supports deep interconnection among multiple terminals. Crucially, it also supports editing and transferring functions with iOS devices, although this needs to be implemented through a specific app.

There is not much news about Origin OS at the moment, but it would be best if it is not reversely optimized.

To be honest, it is a good thing for the industry that some manufacturers are following Xiaomi's route of small-sized flagships. It can also be seen that the market for small-sized mobile phones is still very large. After all, there are not many small-sized mobile phones with balanced configurations. Now other domestic manufacturers are finally ready to enter the market, which may bring about a trend and give consumers more options.

Judging from the successful experience of Xiaomi 13 and 14 series, the goal is "to achieve the best possible performance in all aspects in the smallest possible body, while not being too expensive", and the experience cannot be sacrificed for the sake of a small screen.

Judging from the information currently revealed, OPPO and vivo may actually be able to get a share of the small-screen market.
