BEIJING, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The release time of Apple Inc.'s personal intelligent system "Apple Smart" was later than expected, several weeks later than the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems released this year, Bloomberg News reported on the 28th.

People familiar with the matter revealed that Apple will push software upgrades including "Apple Intelligence" to users by the end of October, but the iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 operating systems are scheduled to be released in September, so the latest operating systems cannot be equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) functions. The report said that this may give Apple more time to fix the software vulnerabilities of "Apple Intelligence".

Apple's iPhone 16 smartphone is also scheduled to be released in September this year. The report said that this means that the first batch of iPhone 16s on sale may have to wait for software updates in a few weeks before they can use AI features. However, Apple still plans to let software developers test AI features for the first time as early as this week.

Apple unveiled its personal intelligence system "Apple Intelligence" at the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10. The system integrates multiple functions of generative artificial intelligence and can be applied to many Apple products. "Apple Intelligence" includes new writing and photo tools. With the support of "Apple Intelligence", the voice assistant Siri will have richer language understanding capabilities and provide more natural, more contextually relevant, and more personalized answers.

Apple announced at the time that it would integrate ChatGPT, a chatbot created by the OpenAI Research Center, into iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia system platforms later this year, and users can access it for free without creating an account. Before sending questions, documents, or photos to ChatGPT, the user's consent will be obtained. (Bu Xiaoming)
