According to foreign media reports on July 28, the US Department of Justice accused TikTok of collecting a large amount of data on American users' views on controversial issues such as abortion and gun control.

TikTok employees used a system called Lark to share sensitive data with ByteDance engineers in China, according to court documents filed Friday.

The U.S. government has accused ByteDance and TikTok employees of having access to user content, including their views on controversial topics. The allegation comes amid growing concerns about Chinese influence and ahead of a law signed by President Biden that could ban TikTok if it doesn’t sever ties with ByteDance.

TikTok has denied the allegations, saying the proposed ban violates the First Amendment. The company claims it has not provided any evidence to substantiate the government's allegations. Oral arguments in the case are scheduled for September.
