[Global Network Technology Comprehensive Report] On the afternoon of July 27, 2024, at the NIO IN 2024 Innovation Technology Day event, Ren Shaoqing, Vice President of NIO Intelligent Driving R&D, announced an important news: China’s first intelligent driving world model-NWM (NIO World Model) was officially released.

NWM is an intelligent driving world model with full data understanding, long-term deduction and decision-making capabilities. It can deduce 216 possible scenarios within 100 milliseconds and find the best decision. As a generative model, NWM also has powerful generation capabilities. It can generate a 120-second video by using a 3-second driving video as a prompt. In addition, NWM also has an innate closed-loop simulation test capability, and its performance has been fully tested and verified in complex interactive scenarios.

Ren Shaoqing said that NWM is a multivariate autoregressive generative model that learns through a self-supervised process without the need for data labeling, thereby improving efficiency. At the same time, he also revealed that NIO's smart driving chip Shenji is tailor-made for the NIO World Model, and the combination of the two will bring users a more intelligent and safe driving experience.

Based on the end-to-end upgrade, NIO also plans to launch Intelligent Safety Assist 2.0. This upgrade will greatly increase the scenarios that can be responded to, from standard scenarios to the complex real world, and realize intelligent safety protection covering all scenarios, all directions, and all speeds.
