People's Daily Macau, July 26 (Reporter Fu Zimei) The reporter learned from the Macau International Airport that from January to June 2024, the total passenger volume of the Macau International Airport exceeded 3.73 million, and the number of flight takeoffs and landings exceeded 29,000, an increase of 91% and 72% respectively over the same period last year, and has recovered to about 80% of the passengers and aircraft takeoffs and landings in the same period in 2019.

Data shows that passengers from mainland China accounted for 46% of the total number of passengers, passengers from Taiwan accounted for 17% of the total number of passengers, and passengers from international routes accounted for 37% of the total number of passengers. In the first half of this year, an average of 20,000 passengers traveled to and from the airport every day, with about 165 take-offs and landings.

Macau International Airport expects passenger traffic to continue to grow during the peak summer vacation period, estimating that the airport will have nearly 1.4 million passengers between July and August.

In addition, data from January to May 2024 showed that the number of passengers entering the Macau International Airport with international passports reached 230,000, an increase of 2.8 times over the same period last year.

It is reported that Macau International Airport is actively expanding more international routes. In July, three new airlines have been added to operate Macau routes, including Korean Air opening Macau to Seoul, Malaysia Firefly Airlines, and Batik Air opening Macau to Malaysia Tawau route.

Macau International Airport stated that it will continue to work hard to provide more travel options for local residents and passengers from the Greater Bay Area, and actively cooperate with the Macao SAR government to expand its share of the international tourism market.
