Luo Baoming voluntarily surrendered

The website of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection announced on the evening of July 25 that Luo Baoming, vice chairman of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Committee of the 13th National People's Congress, was suspected of serious violations of discipline and law and voluntarily surrendered himself. He is currently undergoing disciplinary review and supervision investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission.

Public information shows that Luo Baoming was born in October 1952 in Tianjin. He was once a member of the Standing Committee of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Minister of the Propaganda Department.

He has worked in Hainan since 2001, and has served as deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor. He became secretary of the provincial party committee in August 2011. In April 2017, he moved to work in the National People's Congress.

Luo Baoming is the second former provincial party secretary to be brought down this year.

Wu Yingjie is the first former provincial party secretary to be brought down this year.

Shangguanhui found that six provincial and ministerial level officials have been investigated this year. In addition to Wu Yingjie and Luo Baoming, the other four are:

Li Yuefeng, executive vice chairman of the Taiwan Democratic Self-Government League Central Committee, was investigated on March 23.

Tang Yijun, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Jiangxi Provincial CPPCC, was investigated on April 2. Tang Yijun had served as Governor of Liaoning Province and Minister of Justice.

Tang Renjian, Party Secretary and Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, was investigated on May 18. Tang Renjian once served as governor of Gansu Province and other positions.

Gou Zhongwen, member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and deputy director of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Committee, was investigated on May 30. Gou Zhongwen had served as deputy secretary of the Beijing Municipal Party Committee, director of the State Sports General Administration, and secretary of the Party Leadership Group.
