Xinhua News Agency, Washington, July 24 (Xinhua) U.S. Vice President Harris, who has basically secured the Democratic presidential nomination, emphasized at her first presidential campaign rally on the 23rd that she had been a prosecutor and had fought against various criminals, implying that Republican presidential candidate and former President Trump was a "criminal."

In addition to "tearing off" Trump, Harris has also made progress in donations and other aspects. She has received more than $100 million in donations. The latest poll results show that the gap between Harris and Trump's support rate is not large.

Harris "opens fire"

Harris held her first presidential campaign event in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where she told more than 3,000 people that she had enough support to become the Democratic presidential candidate.

Harris introduced her experience as a prosecutor and attorney general. "I have fought all kinds of criminals, predators who abuse women, scammers who extort consumers, and liars who break the rules for personal gain." Then Harris said, "I know what type of person Trump is."

Trump ran for president while "guilty" and was found guilty in the "hush money" case, becoming the first former president in U.S. history to be convicted in a criminal case. The verdict of the "hush money" case is scheduled for September 18.

Campaign strategist Kevan Shroff believes that Harris can rely on her experience as a prosecutor to attack Trump, while on the other hand she can emphasize the Biden administration's issues and achievements.

According to the New York Times, Harris's criticism of Trump in her first campaign event was much stronger than Biden's. Many supporters who attended the event said they were "excited" that Harris was running for president.

Harris, 59, took over the 81-year-old Biden's campaign and kicked the age issue to the Republican side. Trump is 78 years old. For the Democratic Party, Harris is a candidate with much more energy than Biden.

According to poll data compiled by the US election information website "Real Transparency Politics", as of the 23rd, Trump was ahead of Harris by an average of 1.6 percentage points in national polls. Some polls also showed that Harris's support rate has surpassed Trump. The poll results released by Reuters and Ipsos on the 23rd showed that Harris was 2 percentage points ahead of Trump.

Fundraising and running mate selection attract attention

With just over three months until the presidential election on November 5, Harris has a lot of things to do: fundraising, thinking about strategies, choosing a running mate, advertising...

Within 24 hours after Biden announced his withdrawal from the election on the 21st, Harris raised $81 million in donations. As of the evening of the 22nd, her fundraising amount had exceeded $100 million.

Harris also plans to "inherit" Biden's campaign funds, which amounted to nearly $96 million by the end of June. But the Trump campaign filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on the 23rd, saying Harris could not take over the money.

Who will be Harris' running mate has also attracted attention. Several major Democratic Party donors revealed on the 23rd that three Democrats from swing states are Harris' key candidates for running mate.

These "financial backers" told the Financial Times that the three are Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, Arizona Senator Mark Kelly and North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. They have received support from important "financial backers" on Wall Street and Hollywood, and are undergoing background checks by former Attorney General Eric Holder.
