"Autobiography" written by Huaisu is praised as "the best cursive script in the world". This work has coherent lines and turbulent spirit, like a passionate rhapsody, full of the beauty of wildness and boldness, with strong artistic effect, showing the infinite charm of cursive script, fully mobilizing the emotions of the viewer, thus winning the position of "crown of cursive script".

However, from the perspective of artistic realm, Huaisu's works in his later years are far more profound and far superior to this "Self-narration", just as Sun Guoting said: "It can be both bold and extraordinary, and then return to being flat and regular. In the beginning of learning calligraphy, it is said that it is not enough, in the middle, it is better, and in the end, it is fully mastered. When it is fully mastered, both the person and the calligraphy are old."

In the early stages of learning calligraphy, one only seeks to control the pen steadily and keep the strokes upright and concise. As basic skills improve, calligraphers are no longer satisfied with a single posture, and strive to present multiple changes, such as Huaisu's "Autobiography", with its flying, unrestrained, dangerous and continuous strokes, full of personal style.

In his later years, when he had rich life experience, the calligrapher broke away from the constraints of appearances and paid more attention to inner meaning. His artistic realm was mellow, giving people a sense of profoundness. His works are more able to withstand analysis and scrutiny than his early ostentatious works, just like the "Holy Mother Letter" written by Huaisu at the age of 57, which can be regarded as Huaisu's "highest level" of cursive script.

Liang Yan praised: "Huaisu's "Madonna" is round, ancient and vigorous, with many official cursive scripts. It is the work of his later years. It is better than "Self-narration". "Self-narration" is still full of vigor and freedom, while this one is round, ancient and natural. Huaisu's "Madonna" is the best among the calligraphy works."

At that time, Huaisu traveled to Yiling Town in Yangzhou City. He heard the story of two fairies, Du and Kang, protecting the people. He was deeply moved and wanted to erect a monument to commemorate them. So he wrote this work in one stroke. The whole volume has a total of 409 words.

The cursive characters in the scroll combine the style of seal and clerical scripts, and are slightly similar to regular cursive script in form. The brush is moved with the center of the brush, and the strokes are round and vigorous, extremely elastic and tough. Of course, there is also a swift and flying posture, as if clouds and winds are flowing on the paper.

But on a visual level, it is more peaceful and gentle than "Autobiography", with full and beautiful characters. As the strokes become slower or faster, the ink occasionally dries up, highlighting the beauty of its vigorous and ancient style, and containing a natural and quiet romantic atmosphere.

Li Bai praised his calligraphy as "unique in the world". He believed that Huaisu's cursive script was the best in the world and no one in the calligraphy world could match it. Wang Shizhen also commented on this work: "In his later years, his calligraphy was mature and beautiful, and it had its own style, which was probably derived from the Shanyin School... All of Master Su's calligraphy works were thin and exposed, but the Holy Mother Calligraphy was even, steady, mature and wonderful."

Unfortunately, the original stele of this work has been destroyed. Bada Shanren once collected a copy of it and wrote a postscript at the end of the scroll: "Lu Tian'an's "Self-introduction" and "Thousands of Essays" were written in a drunken manner. One copy is from Zhang Youdao's mysterious style; only the "Holy Mother" was written in a sober manner, which can be found in You'an and Zhang Youdao's complete works... Once I left and became a vassal state, I had to treasure the Lu Tian'an books."

The handwriting in the scroll is well preserved, with clear and exquisite strokes. By copying it frequently, one can master the orthodox "cursive method" in a neutral and gentle artistic conception, improve pen control skills, and at the same time comprehend the artistic charm of the Jin and Tang dynasties and form a correct aesthetic outlook.

Today, we have made a 1:1 ultra-high-definition reproduction of Huaisu's "Madonna Letter" using museum-level, 12-color micro-spray reproduction technology, which is exactly the same as the original, and all of Bada Shanren's inscriptions are included at the end of the scroll.

At the same time, exclusive modern character annotations are added to help beginners to read. The fonts in the volume are extremely clear, and the details such as the ink color, brushstroke changes, etc. are all clearly visible. It is far more delicate than ordinary prints.
