According to IT Home on July 24, Spotify's total revenue in the second quarter of 2024 was 3.8 billion euros (IT Home Note: currently about 30.145 billion yuan), a year-on-year increase of 20%; operating profit was 266 million euros (currently about 2.11 billion yuan), a record high.

During the same period, Spotify's monthly active users reached 626 million, a year-on-year increase of 14%; its subscribers reached 246 million, a year-on-year increase of 12%.

Spotify CEO Daniel Ek confirmed on an earnings call that they are developing a product that is more advanced than Premium, but it is "still in the early stages."

In fact, Spotify announced the launch of the HiFi feature as early as three years ago, but it has not been officially launched yet. Now it has been 1,247 days since the official announcement. Currently, Apple and Amazon already provide higher-resolution audio options in their standard subscriptions.

“The plan is to offer a better version of Spotify,” Ek said. “Imagine a $5 premium over the current Premium, maybe $17 or $18, a deluxe version of Spotify that has all the benefits of Spotify but adds more controls, better quality across the board, and some other features that I can’t reveal right now.”

It is worth mentioning that some time ago, there was a report that lossless audio will be launched as an additional service for Spotify Premium subscription, and it will include other benefits such as advanced library management, AI-generated playlists and headphone sound quality optimization. Bloomberg predicts that the service will cost $16.99 per month (currently about 124 yuan).

"There is a subset of the 246 million subscribers who want a better version of Spotify," Ek said. "They are the people who really love music and primarily want more flexibility in how they use Spotify and the music features."
