Starting from September this year, Alexander Pollich, who is considered by the company to be an "experienced sales expert", will replace Michael Kirsch as CEO of Porsche China, responsible for the company's business in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau.

The 57-year-old Polic has worked for Porsche for 23 years and has successfully reversed the decline in sales as chairman of the Porsche Germany board since 2018. Earlier, he was responsible for establishing Porsche's global sales network.

Polic took up his new post at a time when Porsche's sales in China have been declining for two consecutive years. In the first half of this year, sales in China, which once accounted for 20% of Porsche's deliveries, dropped by nearly one-third year-on-year. Unable to bear the inventory pressure, Porsche dealers collectively protested to the brand, demanding subsidies from Porsche headquarters and replacement of senior executives.

Porsche said that Polic's main task is to implement a value-oriented growth strategy in China, "His focus will be on deeper cooperation with local dealer partners and further optimization of internal processes and structures."

Kossmaier, who is about to be replaced, will take office in 2022. One of his tasks is to cope with the challenge of the first decline in Porsche's sales in China. He served as COO of Porsche China from 2012 to 2016, responsible for sales, dealer development and direct sales business. During this period, China surpassed the United States in 2015 to become Porsche's largest market in the world.

Porsche China CEO may just be the beginning of the adjustment of Porsche's sales system executives. According to reports, Kossmaier's direct leader, Porsche Global Sales and Marketing Executive Board Member Detlev von Platen, is no longer able to participate in the internal board discussions.
