According to CCTV News, on July 16, six bodies were found in a room at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in a bustling commercial district in downtown Bangkok. The dead included four Vietnamese and two Vietnamese Americans.

On July 17, local time, the Thai police held a press conference on the death of six foreign guests in a Bangkok hotel. The police said that after collecting evidence and investigating, they found cyanide in the cups and kettles in the rooms of the deceased.

Sources revealed that the suspect is Sherine Chong, a 56-year-old woman. She holds an American passport and has entered and exited Thailand five times. She has committed suicide by taking poison, and her motive for committing the crime stems from her huge debt. According to media reports, investigators found that Chong borrowed 10 million baht (about 2 million yuan) from the two deceased in this case to invest in a hospital construction project in Japan. The two deceased were a couple who owned a construction company, but the couple had not received repayment from Chong. The loan dispute was originally scheduled to be heard in Japan within a few weeks.

According to reports, the details of the case have been further exposed. Tran Dinh Phu, a 37-year-old man, is one of the victims. He is a famous makeup artist in Vietnam who has been engaged in the beauty makeup industry for more than 20 years. He is also the long-term private makeup artist of the suspect Chong. Chong would pay him thousands of dollars in travel expenses and makeup service fees every time he provided services. It is understood that he also received a fee of 5,000 US dollars paid by Chong for this trip to Thailand.

Information provided by Tran Dinh Phu's mother Le Thi Tuy and Phu's friend Pham Mai Quynh both indicated that Phu had been working for the suspect in the poisoning case for the past year. According to Le Thi Tuy, her son once mentioned to her that he was working for the wife of a wealthy man in Dubai, and the "wife of a wealthy man in Dubai" mentioned by her son was the suspect Chong.

Le Thi Tuy, the mother of her son, was very surprised and sad about his death, and she was also very confused. She and Phu's friends confirmed to the media that Phu had never had the habit of drinking coffee or tea. Phu's mother pointed to a photo of the crime scene, which showed a water bottle on the table in the hotel. "My son doesn't drink tea, coffee or beer when he travels. He always buys a few bottles of water to drink by himself, but someone also poisoned the water in that bottle. I don't understand why someone poisoned my son even though he didn't do anything?"
