Zhitong Finance APP learned that Boeing (BA.US) Chief Operating Officer Stephanie Pope said the company expects to increase production of its 737 jetliner in the second half of this year.

Pope added that the company was driving "changes" based on feedback from customers, regulators and employees.

Boeing Co. is adding capacity at its 737 factory, which will lead to a "significant" increase in production rates for its best-selling passenger jet, the head of its commercial airplane business said.

Boeing has faced heightened scrutiny from aviation authorities and customers this year after a metal panel exploded on a 737 Max 9 operated by Alaska Airlines. The Federal Aviation Administration has limited production of 737s until the agency is satisfied the company has taken steps to address safety issues.

Pope said the company has a turnaround plan in place that includes safety and quality initiatives, stabilizing plants and working on company culture.
