IT Home reported on July 21 that Tesla announced at X this week that its Berlin factory will plant 1 million trees by 2024. The news came at a time when local residents protested against the factory expansion plan involving the felling of surrounding trees.

IT Home noticed that Tesla released a video showing the company's tree planting project in detail. Tesla also hired a professional forest ranger, Björn, to oversee the entire process. According to Björn, Tesla's tree planting plan takes into account the future growth of trees, and the area planted so far is equivalent to 450 football fields. In order to efficiently complete the huge tree planting task, Tesla has also specially developed a tree planting machine.

Tesla promised as early as when it was building its Berlin factory that it would compensate three times the number of trees cut down.

However, Tesla's tree planting action did not completely quell the opposition of local residents. As the factory continued to expand, the company needed to cut down more trees, which triggered a new round of protests. Environmentalists even built tree houses in nearby forests to prevent the factory from expanding.

Although Tesla has obtained preliminary approval for the expansion of its Berlin factory, the subsequent approval process still faces many challenges.

Tesla's tree planting action is seen by the outside world as a move to respond to environmental pressure, but in the face of continued protests and environmental doubts, whether Tesla can successfully advance the expansion of its factory remains to be seen.
