AI writing, AI animation, Wensheng video, GPT... When artificial intelligence enters the cultural field, what kind of changes and innovations will it bring? Recently, the fourth International College Students Digital Humanities Elite Training Camp officially opened.

The theme of this training camp is "AIGC Empowers Science Fiction and Culture". After six rounds of comprehensive interviews, 126 trainees from 77 universities at home and abroad were finally admitted. They will gather on the cloud platform to participate in a week-long digital humanities project training, stimulate innovative thinking and cultivate interdisciplinary cooperation capabilities through theoretical and practical learning.


It is understood that the training camp is jointly guided by the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, the Cultural Metaverse Committee of the China Cultural Industry Association, and the Sichuan Provincial Journalism Professional Teaching Guidance Committee, and co-organized by the Digital Culture and Media Research Center of the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China (Key Research Base for Digital Culture and Media Research of Sichuan Province) and the Digital Fusion Laboratory of Chinese Cultural Heritage and Global Communication of Sichuan University.

Xie Mei, director of the training camp organizing committee and professor at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, said that the door to the digital humanities hall has been opened to all students, and the students will become a new generation of pioneers, innovators and leaders.

Professor Yang Xiaohong, director of the Institute of Creative Industries at Sichuan University, said that this training camp will provide students with a platform for in-depth learning of the integration of science and humanities, helping everyone to better understand and master this cutting-edge technology.

Professor Wu Yan, Director of the Center for Science and Human Imagination Research at Southern University of Science and Technology, emphasized that the science fiction industry still has a lot of room for development in my country. He said that digital humanities have the unique advantage of taking into account both technological development and humanistic care, which meets the talent needs of developing imagination education today. It undertakes the social value and historical mission of cultivating new-era talents with humanistic qualities, scientific thinking, and technical capabilities, and changing the world.

Han Hong, vice dean of the School of Public Administration at UESTC, said that with the development of network technology, the research and application fields of digital humanities are constantly expanding, and social needs are also gradually expanding. He encouraged everyone to actively participate in various activities, empower humanities research with digital technology and analytical methods, and make full use of this rare learning opportunity to improve their professional quality and innovation ability.

In the next week, students will accumulate knowledge, expand their thinking and improve their abilities through learning in three sections: academic frontiers, creative practice and skill enhancement.
