Microsoft said on July 20 that a software update released by CrowdStrike, an American computer security technology company, for Microsoft Windows had a "defect" in it, and the resulting failure was estimated to have affected nearly 8.5 million devices installed with the system worldwide. Microsoft said CrowdStrike had developed a solution to speed up the repair of the failure.

Starting at 19:00 Greenwich Time on the 18th (03:00 Beijing Time on the 19th), Microsoft Windows systems in many parts of the world crashed due to a security software update, resulting in a "blue screen". Many industries including aviation, medical, media, finance, retail, and logistics were affected.

Microsoft and its software supplier, American computer security technology company CrowdStrike, have provided users with repair guides, but because there are too many companies involved, it will take some time for all the "blue screen" computers to return to normal.

Kurtz, CEO of Zhongji, posted on social media that he deeply apologized for the failure on the 19th and the inconvenience and damage caused. Affected by this incident, Zhongji's stock price fell by more than 11% at the close of the 19th.
