"Forrest Gump" is a 1994 American comedy film adapted from the novel of the same name published by American writer Winston Groom in 1986. The story tells the life experience of Forrest Gump, a man with low intelligence but a kind heart, while also telling some important historical events in the United States in the second half of the 20th century.

The film was released in the United States on July 6, 1994. Its visual effects, script and acting skills were widely praised, becoming the highest-grossing film in North America that year. During its release, the film grossed more than $678.2 million at the global box office, making it the second highest-grossing film in the world in 1994, second only to The Lion King. Its soundtrack has sold more than 12 million copies worldwide. The film won six awards at the 67th Academy Awards: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor (Tom Hanks), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Editing. It was also nominated for many other awards, including the Golden Globe Award, the People's Choice Award and the Young Artist Award.
