On July 18, there were reports that Wahaha had experienced personnel changes at the top level, with Vice Chairman and General Manager Zong Fuli resigning. A picture of a letter to all employees of Wahaha Group signed by "Zong Fuli" shows that "recently, the Shangcheng District People's Government of Hangzhou and some shareholders of Hangzhou Wahaha Group Co., Ltd. have questioned the rationality of my management of Wahaha Group since the death of Chairman Zong Qinghou, which has made it impossible for me to continue to perform my management responsibilities for Wahaha Group and its holding companies. Therefore, I have decided to resign from the positions of Vice Chairman and General Manager of Wahaha Group from now on and will no longer participate in its management."

In 2021, the 76-year-old Zong Qinghou took the initiative to resign from the position of general manager he had held for 34 years, and his daughter Zong Fuli took over as the group's vice chairman and general manager. On February 25 this year, Zong Qinghou died of illness at the age of 79. Zong Fuli became the new head of Wahaha Group.

Tianyancha data shows that 46% of the shares of Hangzhou Wahaha Group Co., Ltd. are held by Hangzhou Shangcheng District Culture, Commerce and Tourism Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd., 24.6% are held by the Employee Shareholding Association, and 29.4% are held by Zong Qinghou. It is reported that Hangzhou Shangcheng District Culture, Commerce and Tourism Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. is a district-level tourism and trade service platform reorganized by the Shangcheng District Committee and District Government.

On July 18, a reporter from Southern Metropolis Daily called the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Office of the Shangcheng District People's Government of Hangzhou. The staff member said, "We are still trying to understand the details of what happened this morning. We are waiting for the decision-makers to say. There should be an announcement from official channels later."

Nandu reported earlier that a Wahaha Commercial Co., Ltd. staff member said, "If it is confirmed, we will definitely notify you. At present, we are not sure where the screenshot message came from."
