Acer re-enters smartphone market: Indka gets design, manufacturing and sales license in India

IT Home reported on July 16 that according to Indian media Economic Times and Gadgets 360, Indian company Indkal Technologies signed a licensing cooperation agreement with Acer on the 11th of this month.Acer will design, manufacture and sell smartphones in India

This agreement is not the first cooperation between Indkal, an Indian technology startup, and Acer: Indkal has obtained Acer's authorization in 2021 to launch Acer-branded TVs and other products in the Indian market:

Indkal said its Acer-branded smartphone productsTargeting the Indian mid-marketThe price range is 15,000 to 50,000 rupees (IT Home Note: currently about 1,303 to 4,345 yuan), with "cutting-edge hardware and advanced software", and the first batch of models will be launched in the middle of this year.

Indian media Gadgets 360 said,Indkal sets target to manufacture 1 million devices per year, is also applying for funding from the Indian government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

Acer once joined the smartphone market in the 2010s, launching Windows Mobile and Android phones, and even tried to cooperate with Alibaba on Alibaba Cloud system phones in the early days, but gradually withdrew from this field.
