[Global Network Technology Comprehensive Report] On July 16, Samsung announced that its fastest 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5X DRAM has been verified on MediaTek's next-generation Dimensity flagship mobile platform. The verification used Samsung's 16GB LPDDR5X package specification, based on MediaTek's Dimensity 9400 mobile platform, which is scheduled to be released in the second half of the year.

Samsung's LPDDR5X DRAM has achieved significant improvements in both power consumption and performance, reducing power consumption by about 25% and improving performance by about 25% compared to previous generations. This optimization will effectively extend the battery life of mobile devices and significantly improve the performance of on-device AI functions, such as faster speech-to-text generation, without relying on servers or cloud access.

“Through our strategic collaboration with MediaTek, Samsung has validated its fastest LPDDR5X DRAM, which is expected to drive the growth of the artificial intelligence (AI) smartphone market,” said YongCheol Bae, executive vice president of memory product planning at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung will continue to innovate through active collaboration with customers and provide the best solutions for the on-device AI era.”

“Through our collaboration with Samsung, MediaTek’s next-generation Dimensity flagship mobile platform is the first to be validated at Samsung’s 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X speeds, bringing amazing AI capabilities and mobile performance to upcoming devices,” said Dr. Jingquan Xu, Senior Vice President and General Manager of MediaTek’s Wireless Communications Business Unit. “This updated architecture will bring better experiences to developers and users, improving AI capabilities and enriching device features while reducing the impact on battery life.”

This verification not only consolidates Samsung’s technological leadership in the low-power, high-performance DRAM market, but is also expected to expand the application scope of LPDDR5X DRAM from mobile devices to servers, PCs, automotive equipment and other fields.
