why is ailao mountain a restricted area?

ailao mountain is located in central yunnan, spanning chuxiong prefecture, yuxi city, pu'er city and other prefectures and cities in yunnan province.

it preserves the subtropical mid-mountain wet evergreen broad-leaved forest ecosystem with the largest area at the same latitude in the world, the least human interference, and the most complete ecosystem. there are tall trees towering into the sky, low shrubs covering the ground, moss and ferns clinging to their branches and roots, and horizontal vines twining and climbing everywhere. local people call it the "forest of death", and netizens also call it the real-life "yunnan worm valley."

at present, many areas in the outer part of ailao mountain have been opened as scenic spots, such as the ancient tea horse road, nan'en waterfall, shimen gorge and jinshan primitive forest park in xinping county, yuxi city. these scenic spots are located along national highway 323, making it easier and safer for tourists to enter and exit.

the other deep areas of ailao mountain that have not yet been opened are mostly virgin forests. the local government reminds you not to rush to the unopened areas of ailao mountain:

the hinterland of ailao mountain has high mountains and dense forests, steep slopes and many cliffs, and there are no roads for normal traffic. in addition, there are many wild animals in the virgin forest, and bears, leopards, venomous snakes, etc. are often seen.

heavy rain, snow, hail and other severe weather often occur here. in rainy and foggy weather, densely fogged forests will release a large amount of carbon dioxide at night. people who walk in the forest for a long time may lose consciousness due to lack of oxygen, and then become hypothermic.

measurements by scientific researchers have confirmed that there is an abnormality in the intensity of the earth's magnetic field in ailao mountain, which can easily lead to compass failure and increase the risk of getting lost.

the maximum fine for trespassing into the ailao mountain reserve is 5,000 yuan.
