what is "pink eye"?

"pinkeye" is the common name for acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis. it is an acute infectious disease that usually presents with symptoms such as eye redness, itching, tearing, and increased secretions. it is mainly caused by enterovirus d70 and coxsackievirus a24 variants. and adenovirus,it occurs frequently in summer and autumn, and the whole population can be infected. it is highly contagious, spreads quickly, and has an acute onset.the disease usually starts in one eye and soon spreads to the other eye. about 60% of patients develop the disease in both eyes one after another. "pinkeye" is mostly a self-limiting disease, with a course of 1-3 weeks and a good prognosis, with occasional neurological complications.
