thanks to the pcie 5.0 interface and eight-channel design, the sequential read/write speed of the new ssd is more than twice that of the previous generation, reaching 14.5gb/s (gigabytes per second) and 13gb/s respectively, which can meet for the needs of data-intensive artificial intelligence applications, samsung claims that "even a 14gb large language model (llm) can be transferred from ssd to dram in less than one second."

pm9e1 comes in a variety of storage specifications, including 512gb, 1tb, 2tb, and 4tb specifications, and can store large files such as artificial intelligence-generated content, large data programs, and high-resolution videos. in addition, the energy efficiency of pm9e1 has been improved by more than 50%, and the greatly improved energy efficiency enhances battery life.

samsung's pm9e1 adopts the security protocol and data model (spdm) v1.2 specification. spdm includes technologies such as "secure channel", "device authentication" and "firmware tampering authentication".
