lin shishi, leader of the research team, said that compared with similar species, the new species has significantly swollen lips, which is quite distinctive. it mainly inhabits evergreen broad-leaved forests between 490 meters and 540 meters above sea level. there are abundant mountain streams and leaf litter under the forest, forming a diverse micro-habitat system.
it is understood that china is the country with the richest species of the genus toad, with a total of 68 species recorded so far, 12 of which are only distributed in guangdong province, and most of them are narrowly distributed species. they are a group in urgent need of attention and conservation.
