hebei: small "microgrid" brings electricity consumption in mountainous areas to "greater people's livelihood"

"in 2021, the beizhuang village integrated photovoltaic and storage microgrid project was completed. in emergencies such as external grid failures, the microgrid can provide beizhuang village residents with more than 12 hours of power supply guarantee services. after three years of stable operation, beizhuang village's annual power supply has been reliable the rate reached 99.99%, and the average annual power outage time per household was reduced by 30%," said wang bo, general manager of state grid pingshan county power supply company.
"microgrids" not only improve the reliability of power supply, but also bring benefits to villagers. wang junyan, a villager in beizhuang village, opens his mobile banking around the 10th of every month to check last month’s photovoltaic power generation income bill. "rooftop photovoltaics are practical and beautiful. now every household in our village has photovoltaic panels on the roof. my family can increase their income by more than 3,000 yuan a year." wang junyan said.

in april this year, hebei province’s first ten-megawatt hydro-solar-storage smart microgrid demonstration project was completed and put into operation in hezhang township, shexian county. "the hydro-solar-storage microgrid is a small power generation and distribution system integrated by hydropower units, photovoltaic power generation and energy storage devices. when external power is tight, discharge protects important loads. in the case of grid connection, it can actively participate in the large power grid adjustment of voltage and frequency improves power supply reliability." yang yang, a staff member of the development and construction department of state grid shexian power supply company, said that the power supply quality of more than 1,000 surrounding villagers at the end of the power grid has been significantly improved.
"in the next step, state grid hebei electric power company will continue to enrich and deepen the microgrid construction scenarios, explore new models of 'semi-independent' microgrid construction in plain areas rich in new energy, and promote high-quality development of the power grid." hu ping said.
