according to cctv news, the arabic spokesperson of the israel defense forces issued a statement on social media on the morning of october 2, local time,call on people in 24 villages in southern lebanon to evacuate to the area north of the awali river as soon as possible, saying anyone who comes close to lebanese hezbollah facilities will face life-threatening danger.
the awali river is in southern lebanon, north of the litani river and nearly 60 kilometers from the lebanese-israeli provisional border. the litani river is also located in southern lebanon, only about 30 kilometers away from the temporary lebanese-israeli border. the litani river originates in the bekaa valley in eastern lebanon and flows into the mediterranean sea from the north of the southern city of tyre. it is the largest river in lebanon.
on the morning of october 2, the israel defense forces announced that the israeli 36th division had launched a "limited and localized" military operation against hezbollah militants in southern lebanon.
