create the "southern concord"
the young man who traveled thousands of miles to hangzhou at the beginning was named wang jiwu. he was born in a scholarly family in the east of suzhou. due to his talent and hard work since childhood, he completed the pre-med course ahead of schedule and was successfully admitted to peking union medical college.
after completing a five-year medical course and graduating from union medical college, wang jiwu received a doctorate in medicine from the american state university. he stayed at the school to teach and was later appointed as chief resident by union medical college, becoming the youngest chief resident at the time.
in 1940, wang jiwu studied tropical diseases at tulan university in the united states. during the most difficult period of the anti-japanese war, he resolutely returned to china and went through all the hardships to guiyang, the rear area of the anti-japanese war. from 1941 to 1946, he taught at guiyang medical college.
guiyang medical college was organized and founded by li zongen, an expert in tropical diseases at peking union medical college. many "pyongyang people" have taught and practiced medicine there. they enjoy the reputation of "little union medical college" because of their rigorous academic research and impressive management.
at that time, teachers and students of zhejiang university moved westward under the leadership of president zhu kezhen, and arrived in guizhou in 1940, where they continued to operate the school for seven years.

if you are too big, don’t be too self-sufficient, just accept the rivers. at the end of 1945, zhu kezhen invited li zongen to form a preparatory group for zhejiang university school of medicine and serve as the dean of zhejiang university school of medicine. li zongen was appointed as the dean of peking union medical college and presided over the resumption of peking union medical college. therefore, he recommended professor wang jiwu to preside over the preparatory work for zhejiang university medical college.
