on september 24, after half a month of investigation, the criminal investigation brigade of the aksu city public security bureau in xinjiang transferred the intentional homicide case of the criminal suspect wang to the procuratorate for review and prosecution in accordance with the law. this intentional homicide case that occurred 36 years ago was solved.
on september 5, the police handling the case captured wang, a criminal suspect who had been absconding for 36 years in nanjing, jiangsu province.
on november 25, 1988, the person in charge of a bar in aksu city called the police, saying that a customer was injured. after the police arrived at the scene, they found that the injured person had died on the spot from excessive blood loss. after investigation, it was found that the deceased and wang had a dispute over trivial matters that day. wang had a grudge and killed him with a knife and then fled in fear of crime. limited by the technical conditions of criminal investigation at the time, the pursuit of the fugitive was never able to make breakthrough progress.
in the past 36 years, the police have never given up on investigating this case. during this period, the police officers involved in the investigation of the case changed one after another. in the work notebook of pei ming, a retired policeman from the aksu city public security bureau, the details of the investigation that year were recorded in detail. he has always regretted that he could not catch wang with his own hands.
in the vast sea of people, where are the criminal suspects hiding?
in august this year, thanks to the application of new criminal investigation technology, a key piece of evidence appeared in front of the police.
jiang tao, captain of the criminal investigation brigade of the aksu city public security bureau, said that during another review of the case, the police discovered that wang was suspected of impersonating a man named wang er (pseudonym) who was far away in jiangsu province.
after careful investigation, the police discovered that in 2007, wang er's household registration was canceled due to his death. however, in 2009, wang er was dealt with by the public security agency for drunk driving, and his identity was suspected to have been impersonated by wang.
based on clues, the police rushed to nanjing city, jiangsu province, where wang er was located. on september 5, with the cooperation of the local police, the police found wang er. after identification, they found that he was wang who had been absconding for 36 years.
after interrogation, wang confessed to the crime of intentional homicide. after the incident, he found that zhang was dead, so he hid in a passing truck overnight and fled all the way to urumqi. after that, he worked odd jobs to earn travel expenses while on the run. it took a year to escape to jiangsu province, where he drove a freight vehicle. in 2007, his nephew wang er passed away due to illness. wang thought this was a good opportunity to "clear his identity", so he pretended to be his nephew and lived until now.
although he had a false identity, wang was still worried about being caught. he often watched police and gangster movies, studied the police's ideas for solving cases, and consulted lawyers many times about the penalty provisions for intentional homicide. after learning that the absconding criminal suspect in the murder case was not subject to the statute of limitations, he minimized the number of outings and cut off contact with his relatives. for fear of making a mistake while drunk, he also stopped drinking at gatherings with others. "i always feel that if i hide deeper, the police will forget about me." wang said.
currently, the case is under further investigation.
