a series of high-quality development forum activities to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of yunnan sports vocational and technical college will be held in kunming on october 26.
in july 1964, the yunnan provincial youth amateur sports school was established in kunming tuodong stadium, with volleyball, basketball, football and other training programs. in 1978, the yunnan provincial sports school was established on the basis of the amateur sports school. the school was located in the yunnan provincial sports committee and opened sports classes (with attached middle and primary schools), and the sports teacher training class was located in haigeng. in 1983, the sports teacher training class was changed to yunnan sports continuing education college. in 1994, the yunnan provincial sports school and the yunnan sports continuing education college jointly operated the school and worked together. in 1998, the continuing education college was merged into yunnan normal university, and the relevant personnel and school property were transferred to the provincial sports school. in 2001, the campus of the provincial sports school was moved to haigeng. in may 2004, the school was successfully upgraded to yunnan sports vocational and technical college.
over the past 60 years, several generations of people from the institute of physical education have worked hard in haigeng, cultivating talents and building a career, persevering in innovation, actively connecting with and serving national strategies such as education and sports power, and striving to improve their ability to serve the development of yunnan sports. the school has developed rapidly in teaching, scientific research, competitive training, and management. the sports training professional group has won the provincial "double high" a-level construction professional group and has become a provincial "double high" school training unit. it has been rated as a national high-level sports reserve talent base by the state general administration of sports for 16 consecutive years. among the reserve talents sent, 3 have won olympic champions (among them, guo weiyang, the men's gymnastics team champion of the london olympics, who was trained by the school, became the first local yunnan olympic champion to win a gold medal), 7 have won world championships, 12 have won asian championships, and more than 160 have won the national games and national championships. the students have won a total of 675 medals in provincial and above competitions. it has successively won the titles of "national advanced amateur training unit", "national advanced sports unit", "national advanced mass sports unit", "national advanced collective in the education system", and "national key high-level sports reserve talent base", and is known as the "talent pool", "transmission station" and "cradle of outstanding athletes" of yunnan competitive sports.
from tuodong to haigeng, 60 years have passed. generations of people from the institute of physical education have always adhered to the school motto of "cultivating oneself and strengthening one's will, advocating reality and pursuing action", weathering the wind and rain, and nurturing talents, and gradually built the school into a full-time general higher vocational and technical college (junior college level) integrating training, teaching, and scientific research, becoming one of the only few higher vocational colleges of sports in the country.
