on the morning of september 21, shanghai weiyu experimental school welcomed contestants from primary and secondary schools across the district. they brought model-making tools and materials, or held the first version of the modeling base, and gathered at the "hunan-weiyu experimental" cup modeling competition.
this modeling competition combines the architectural features of xuhui district, with the themes of peach blossom spring under the plane trees and the landmark building wukang building. the competition is divided into groups and items, and is carried out in an on-site production and selection manner. the individual competition uses a unified peach blossom spring hut kit, self-made bases and scenery, which tests the students' hands-on ability and scene planning ability. the wukang building landscape of the team competition requires students to completely independently design and build a model micro-landscape of the wukang building, which not only tests the contestants' innovative design ability, but also examines the students' comprehensive literacy in reasonable material selection and production.
after two hours of intense production, 139 contestants from 28 schools across the district presented colorful architectural models for the competition. the peach blossom spring cottage of the individual group is finely crafted and lifelike. although the competition materials are unified, the contestants also put a lot of thought into the unique features - the peach blossoms in the garden are a fantasy of a beautiful environment, the cartoon dolls are a yearning for a wonderful world, the cottage supported by the clouds is like the children's dream of flying, and the fluttering national flag is the children's love for the great motherland. the micro-landscape of the wukang building designed by the group group gave full play to the children's hands-on ability and imagination. ultra-light colored clay, 3d printing, hand-painted drawings, waste utilization, and other such wonderful ideas and applications are too numerous to mention, which can be said to be unrestrained, interesting and impressive.
this modeling competition coincides with the xuhui district model festival, and is held at the same time as car model, aircraft model, ship model and other competitions. model making encourages students to capture with their eyes, touch with their hands, and experience with their hearts the myths of history, the charm of art, and the magic of science and technology, so as to cultivate students' love for the motherland and hometown. it is hoped that students can innovate in activities, improve their humanistic cultivation through observation, and improve their scientific and technological literacy through practice, and become future little architects.
