on september 5, with the completion of the installation of the interior wall panels of the main control building of the shanghai 220 kv nicheng substation, the civil construction of the entire station is nearing completion and is about to enter the electrical construction stage. located in the lingang new area of the china (shanghai) pilot free trade zone, this substation with a total transformer capacity of 480,000 kva is scheduled to be put into operation before the peak summer in 2025, by which time it will further meet the demand for the growth of regional electricity load.

in 2019, state grid shanghai electric power began to explore the virtual power plant operation system. this year, the company included "high-quality development of virtual power plants" in the annual ten key special actions, and made every effort to promote the scale and practical application of virtual power plants. the company continues to expand the "reservoir" of adjustable resource capacity, build a multi-level and multi-type adjustable resource library, and realize flexible access, information collection and control of adjustable resources. at present, there are 24 virtual power plant operators in shanghai, with 1,696 access resources.
traditional power balance mainly relies on early power supply and grid construction, while virtual power plants fully mobilize load-side resources to "feed back" the grid at peak times. virtual power plants embody scientific, refined, and intelligent urban governance methods. this summer, state grid shanghai electric power organized 32 virtual power plant demand responses for various scenarios such as supply and demand balance and inter-provincial mutual assistance, with the maximum response load reaching 704,300 kilowatts, a record high.
power supply services are continuously improved according to actual customer needs
the people's city constantly improves its infrastructure around the people's daily needs. electric bicycles are the daily means of transportation for many shanghai citizens, but due to imperfect infrastructure, some citizens use flying wires to charge their bicycles or charge them indoors, which is neither convenient nor safe. in april, shanghai launched an e-bike safety management campaign, and promoting the construction of public charging facilities was one of the important measures.
the shanghai urban power supply company worked with the streets and neighborhood committees to answer the same questions. through on-site investigation, demand inquiry, space measurement, and survey of existing power grid resources, it quickly came up with a plan to install "public charging sockets + shared charging cabinets and battery exchange cabinets." in early may, the pilot project of shared charging facilities for electric bicycles in sinan residential area was completed.
data shows that by the end of 2023, there will be 5.6805 million elderly people aged 60 and above in shanghai, accounting for 37.4% of the city's registered population. since 2018, state grid shanghai electric has cooperated with relevant government departments to promote the installation of elevators in old communities from two aspects: relocating existing power facilities to make room and speeding up power connection. in the first eight months of this year, the company completed the power connection of 2,081 installed elevators, and a total of 10,600 installed elevators over the years.
