hunan daily, september 23 (reporter peng kexin, correspondent zhou beibei, tang meng) the reporter learned from changsha customs today that in the first eight months, hunan province's imports and exports to other brics countries (brazil, russia, india, south africa, saudi arabia, uae, egypt, iran, ethiopia) amounted to 66.9 billion yuan, an increase of 1.6% over the same period last year. among them, exports amounted to 40.39 billion yuan and imports amounted to 26.51 billion yuan.
in the first eight months, the top three import and export countries of hunan province with other brics countries were brazil, russia and south africa, with 18.01 billion yuan, 14.22 billion yuan and 11.44 billion yuan respectively, up 13.9%, 14.6% and 28.7% respectively, accounting for 65.3% of the total import and export value of hunan province with other brics countries in the same period. the import and export with saudi arabia, egypt, the united arab emirates, iran and ethiopia, which newly joined the brics in january this year, totaled 12.9 billion yuan.
exports were mainly electromechanical products, with growth in exports of automobiles and high-tech products. in the first eight months, hunan exported 30.12 billion yuan of electromechanical products to other brics countries, up 27.6%, accounting for 74.6% of the total value of hunan's exports to other brics countries during the same period; of which 8.25 billion yuan was exported for automobiles, up 79.9%. exports of the "new three" products amounted to 2.23 billion yuan, up 344.6%, of which 1.94 billion yuan was exported for electric vehicles, a substantial increase of 23.1 times. in addition, exports of high-tech products amounted to 8.12 billion yuan, up 63.6%.
changsha and yueyang accounted for a high proportion. in the first eight months, changsha's imports and exports to other brics countries amounted to 30.35 billion yuan, up 12.5%, accounting for 45.4% of hunan's total imports and exports to other brics countries during the same period; yueyang's imports and exports amounted to 10.89 billion yuan, accounting for 16.3%.
