china daily, september 22 (reporter song ping) the sco think tank international forum on "promoting sustainable development and building a common home" was held at shaanxi normal university from september 21 to 22. the forum was co-organized by the institute of russian, east european and central asian studies of the chinese academy of social sciences, the institute of central asian studies of shaanxi normal university and china university of petroleum.
more than 100 representatives from 10 countries including sco member states, observer states and dialogue partner states attended the forum. participating scholars discussed and exchanged views on international changes and sco cooperation, new productivity and sco sustainable development, the three major initiatives and the construction of a community with a shared future for the sco.

the director of the institute of russian, east european and central asian studies of the chinese academy of social sciences pointed out that china will take over the rotating presidency of the sco after the sco astana summit and will carry out a series of cooperation and actions in key areas around the theme of "sco sustainable development year". in order to further promote the sustainable development of the sco and achieve the goal of building a better home, we should effectively respond to various external challenges and solve action problems in a timely manner; in the face of the arduous task of regional governance, we should get out of the difficulty of path selection as soon as possible, focus on pragmatic cooperation, especially economic and trade cooperation, and solve the development needs currently faced by various countries; in the face of the influence of multiple civilizations in the region, we should bridge historical grievances through extensive dialogue, establish political mutual trust, and form a mechanism of equality and mutual respect.
kilicev akibek, president of the diplomatic academy of the ministry of foreign affairs of the kyrgyz republic, said that as an important international organization in eurasia, the sco is a platform for comprehensive cooperation in various fields and mutual understanding, bringing together countries with different histories and cultures to jointly create a more equitable and prosperous world. at present, in the face of rapidly changing global challenges, the sco should actively develop cooperation mechanisms to address cross-border threats such as climate change, large-scale epidemics, natural disasters and cyber security, and ensure the prosperity and security of the region.
li qi, director of the central asia research institute of shaanxi normal university, said in his speech at the opening ceremony that the sco think tank international forum was grandly held in xi'an, the ancient city at the starting point of the silk road, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the people's republic of china, the 80th anniversary of shaanxi normal university, and the 20th anniversary of the establishment of shaanxi normal university central asia. as an important platform for regional cooperation, the sco has become a key force in promoting regional stability and prosperity. in the new situation where the global economic structure has undergone profound adjustments and new technologies, new industries, and new models continue to emerge, how the sco, as an important platform for regional economic cooperation, can achieve sustainable development under the background of new quality productivity is worthy of our in-depth thinking.
