the report briefly analyzes the overall digitalization level and development characteristics of 14 countries in south asia and southeast asia through the results of the international digital ecosystem index. the results show that singapore, india, malaysia and indonesia are the leading echelon of regional digital development, followed by vietnam, thailand and the philippines.
the report said that between 2022 and 2023, thanks to the deepening of regional cooperation mechanisms such as the china-asean free trade area and the belt and road initiative, cooperation between south asia, southeast asian countries and china in the field of digital ecology has been significantly strengthened, promoting a general improvement in the digital ecology scores of countries in the region.
the report pointed out that chinese companies have actively participated in the construction of infrastructure such as communication networks and data centers in south asia and southeast asian countries, which has greatly improved network coverage and transmission speed in the region; through technical seminars, joint r&d projects and other forms, the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in the field of digital technology have become increasingly frequent; in addition, cooperation in digital economy fields such as e-commerce, digital payments, and smart cities is also constantly advancing, jointly opening up a broader market space.
according to reports, the international digital ecosystem index in this report covers 159 countries around the world, all of which are countries where the number of internet users accounts for more than 35% of the total population. the relevant data are collected from 24 data sources from institutions such as the oecd, the world bank, the international telecommunication union, and the european commission.
according to the report, china, the united states, the united kingdom, sweden, israel and other countries ranked high in digital capabilities. china continues to have an advantage in digital talent reserves and is gradually narrowing the gap with the united states in technological innovation.
