"this is a steel slag carbon fixation project jointly carried out by us and beijing university of science and technology. steel slag can be used to directly capture and utilize carbon dioxide in flue gas to produce antique building materials and other negative carbon materials. each ton of steel slag can fix about 180 kilograms of carbon dioxide." tian jinglei, director of the sustainable development research center of hesteel group, said that the group has currently built a thousand-ton industrial demonstration project of steel slag carbon fixation in tangshan new district.

"we are currently focusing on the research and development of low-cost, large-scale carbon capture, carbon utilization and carbon storage technologies around steel production scenarios." tian jinglei said that at the same time, the group is actively creating a carbon data management platform and strengthening the construction of a carbon emission reduction accounting system in the steel industry to prepare for entering the national unified carbon market.
