after trial, it was found that from 1998 to 2023, the defendant xu wenrong used the convenience of his positions as deputy director of the petroleum geophysical exploration bureau and general manager of the international exploration department, deputy secretary of the party committee and general manager of china national petroleum corporation oriental geophysical exploration co., ltd., assistant to the general manager of china national petroleum corporation, member of the party leadership group, head of the party leadership group’s discipline inspection group, and deputy general manager of china shipping (group) corporation, deputy secretary of the party leadership group and deputy general manager of china national petroleum corporation, deputy secretary of the party leadership group and deputy general manager of china national petroleum corporation, and full-time external director of central enterprises, as well as the convenience formed by his power or status, to provide assistance to relevant units and individuals in project contracting, equipment procurement, business operations, promotion and other matters, and illegally accepted property totaling more than rmb 53.29 million.
