beijing news (reporter wu tingting) on september 19, the reporter learned from the beijing water authority that from june 1 to september 10, beijing's large and medium-sized reservoirs intercepted 307 million cubic meters of flood water. among them, during the heavy rainfall in the main flood season, large and medium-sized reservoirs intercepted 47.02 million cubic meters of flood water, and the miyun reservoir, huairou reservoir, and miyun district shachang reservoir had a flood interception rate of 100%. the city's groundwater reserves increased by 1.142 billion cubic meters compared with the pre-flood period and 1.352 billion cubic meters compared with the same period last year, continuing to rise for the ninth consecutive year.
the rainfall brought 2.683 billion cubic meters of water resources to beijing, and the water storage capacity of large and medium-sized reservoirs was 4.08 billion cubic meters, an increase of 467 million cubic meters compared with the pre-flood period. the water storage capacity of miyun reservoir was 3.178 billion cubic meters, a new high this year. the urban area implemented the fine dispatching of the integrated power plant network and river, and the urban rivers and lakes used the "west storage, east discharge, north-south flood diversion", with a total flood storage of 3.066 million cubic meters and flood diversion of 122 million cubic meters. 594 rainwater pumping stations discharged and stored 1.347 million cubic meters of rainwater, and the recycled water plant accumulated 4.8626 million cubic meters of capacity during the flood season, an increase of 63% year-on-year.
during this year's flood season, the water affairs department further refined and improved the forecasting and early warning mechanism, and conducted rolling analysis and assessment of flood, mountain torrents, and urban waterlogging risks. during the flood season, it issued 167 water situation forecasts and express products in advance to the industry, and issued two flood warnings, 11 mountain torrent disaster risk warnings, and seven waterlogging risk warnings to the public.
water conservancy personnel at all levels adhered to the front line of flood prevention, and during the rainy season, they continuously inspected the city's 80 reservoirs, 711 sluice gates, more than 1,700 kilometers of embankments, and 73 river-related projects under construction, focusing on investigating dangerous reservoir sluice gates, dangerous sections, projects under construction, reservoir spillways, and buildings through embankments. according to the early warning situation, a "one district, one list" reminder for mountain torrents and waterlogging prevention work was issued to each district before the rain, guiding the local areas to close the channels, successfully evacuating 38,500 people, supporting the early deployment of defense at waterlogging points, and quickly handling 86 waterlogging hazards.
scientific and technological achievements have been effectively utilized during this year's flood season. the "three lines of defense" for monitoring and forecasting rainfall in guanting gorge have been completed, and three new networked rainfall radars have been put into operation. the existing 245 rainfall stations and 304 hydrological stations have all been transformed into new hydrological stations with flood and erosion prevention functions. at the same time, the water affairs department has intensified the construction of 264 rainfall stations and 90 hydrological stations, effectively improving the coverage and monitoring accuracy of "rain in the clouds", "rain on the ground" and "water in the river".
the reporter learned from the water affairs department that before the flood season next year, efforts will be made to build 6 more rain radars on the basis of the existing 3 rain radars to promote full coverage of the "rain in the cloud" network monitoring. the city plans to build underground water level meters in 352 mountain torrent ditches to monitor the flow and water level rise in real time, and provide data support for mountain torrent disaster prevention. at the same time, some mountain ditches will be selected to promote the integrated management model of "taking, supplying, using, and draining" in small watersheds involving mountain torrent prevention and control, ecological restoration, etc.; and implement emergency drainage plans for newly added waterlogging points.
