woj's full name is adrian wojnarowski. he was born on march 4, 1969 in bristol, connecticut. he is of polish descent. he is an american sports columnist and reporter, an nba insider for espn, and has worked for yahoo sports.

he graduated from bristol central high school in 1987. he attended st. bonaventure college east of jamestown, new york, and graduated in 1991.

in may 2022, woj received an honorary doctorate from st. bonaventure university.

woj began working for the hartford courant right out of high school and continued there after college. after college, he wrote for a few tabloids and became a columnist for the fresno bee in 1995.

in 1997, he began working for the record in new jersey. for his work at the record, he was named "columnist of the year" by the associated press sports editors in 1997 and 2002. during this time, he also wrote regularly for espn.com. in 2006, he published the new york times bestseller "miracle at st. anthony: coach bob hurley's season and basketball's most improbable dynasty". on june 20, 2019, woj was awarded the inaugural tony kubek award for media excellence by the national polish american sports hall of fame in michigan.

woj announced his retirement from journalism on september 18, 2024, to become the general manager of the men's basketball team at his alma mater, st. bonaventure university.
