after trial, the court found out: on october 21, 2022, the defendant yi drove his car into the country through the port without declaring to the customs. customs officers seized a batch of suspected red-eared turtles and other turtles from the gap between the sunroof and the sun visor of the car and from the modified secret compartment under the armrest box. yi could not produce a valid quarantine approval certificate.

after identification, 1,760 red-eared sliders (also known as red-eared sliders) among the animals involved in the case were found to be invasive alien species and were included in the "list of alien invasive species in china (third batch)" and the "list of key managed alien invasive species", with a total reference price of rmb 88,000.

the court held that the defendant yi's behavior constituted the crime of illegally introducing invasive alien species. yi was a repeat offender and should be punished more severely according to law; after being arrested, he truthfully confessed his crime, voluntarily pleaded guilty and accepted punishment, and took the initiative to prepay the fine, so he can be given a lighter punishment according to law. taking into account the facts, nature, circumstances and degree of harm to society of yi's crime, the court made the above judgment.

more than 40 people, including the defendant's family members, npc deputies, cppcc members, personnel in the field of ecological environment and resources protection, and people from all walks of life, attended the sentencing.
