cairo, september 18 (xinhua) -- egyptian minister of foreign affairs and immigration abdel ati reiterated on september 18 that egypt does not accept any changes to the operating rules implemented on the palestinian side of the rafah crossing before october 7 last year.

abdul ati held a joint press conference with visiting us secretary of state blinken in cairo that day. abdul ati stated at the press conference that egypt refuses to deploy any military forces on the palestinian side of the rafah crossing and the "philadelphia corridor".

abdulati and blinken emphasized at the press conference that achieving a ceasefire in the gaza strip is the best means to ensure regional stability. there are still some important issues outstanding regarding the ceasefire agreement, and political will is needed to resolve these issues.

this is blinken's tenth visit to the middle east since the new round of israeli-palestinian conflict broke out in october last year. earlier this month, the united states said that the gaza ceasefire agreement was 90% reached, but israeli prime minister netanyahu later denied this, saying that the ceasefire agreement was "not close to being reached."
