on september 18, the reporter learned from chongqing liangjiang collaborative innovation zone that the country's first solar-powered hydrogen-powered drone, independently developed by the yixiang uav team under the chongqing research institute of harbin institute of technology, successfully completed its maiden flight at mingyue lake.
it is understood that the uav adopts the solar power generation pressure-adaptive direct drive system and solar hydrogen hybrid power system independently developed by the team, as well as a large-size long wingspan aerodynamic shape, an integrated lightweight carbon fiber fuselage, front and rear dual propeller coaxial drive system, and an innovative hydrogen-powered electric propulsion pod. the fuselage structure is compact and the accessories are simple. the whole machine has the characteristics of low cruising energy consumption and ultra-long flight time. it is designed to achieve ultra-long flight time across day and night.
the solar hydrogen drone combines two clean energies, solar energy and hydrogen energy. it uses the energy management system independently developed by the team to achieve precise control of the energy output of each component. its main control logic is that solar energy generates electricity and gives unconditional priority to output, while hydrogen energy is converted into electricity to make up for the output gap.
the head of the yixiang team introduced that the drones that combine solar energy and hydrogen energy have formed an effective complementary energy system - using solar energy to charge during the day and relying on hydrogen energy to maintain power at night or on cloudy days. this combination enables the drone to work all-weather, greatly broadening its application scope, and is suitable for many fields such as power inspection, forest protection, river monitoring, signal relay, environmental protection, etc., especially reducing the number of take-offs and landings, charging and maintenance, and shift arrangements, greatly improving work efficiency, reducing personnel and capital investment, and has broad market application prospects.
