according to the introduction, academician wang qiao serves as the chief consultant of the course "advances in environmental science", and the professional teaching team consists of teachers with rich teaching experience and scientific research achievements. after academician wang wenxing launched the course, the teaching team will teach courses such as atmospheric environment, water environment, soil environment, ecological environment, environmental big data and environmental quantitative calculation, to ensure that students fully understand the current status and development trends of research in this field at home and abroad, and lay a solid foundation of environmental science for future scientific research.
after the first class, the students said that the course taught by academician wang wenxing was rich and interesting and they were deeply inspired. yan jianing, a 2024 master's student in environmental science and engineering at shandong university, said that academician wang wenxing has been deeply involved in the field of environment for more than half a century. with his profound academic attainments and rich life experience, he revealed the essence and development history of environmental science to us. zhang hengyuan, a 2024 master's student majoring in environmental science and engineering at shandong university, told reporters that mr. zhang made the originally boring theory vivid and interesting by inserting vivid environmental pollution cases and the changes in environmental science at home and abroad in the past few decades in his lectures. he also made him feel the power of knowledge and the joy of learning while understanding the development of environmental science. wang wenxing, an academician of the chinese academy of engineering, an environmental chemist, a professor at shandong university, and a consultant to the chinese academy of environmental sciences. he was born on november 17, 1927 in xiaoxian county, anhui province, and his ancestral home is linyi, shandong province. he graduated from the department of chemistry of shandong university in 1952, and worked in the chemical research institute of the ministry of heavy industry, the beijing chemical research institute of the ministry of chemical industry, and the tianjin environmental protection bureau. in 1980, he participated in the establishment of the chinese academy of environmental sciences and served as vice president. he led the completion of many national scientific and technological projects and made significant contributions to the control of coal smoke-type air pollution, photochemical smog, acid rain and other pollution. in 1999, he was elected as an academician of the chinese academy of engineering.
in 2003, academician wang wenxing was invited to return to shandong university to establish the shandong university institute of environment, which has trained a large number of environmental science and technology talents for the country. currently, more than 60 doctoral and master's students have been trained. he has won the "talent training merit" of shandong university, the national atmospheric environmental science lifetime achievement award, the first china environmental protection industry innovation and development special contribution award, the guanghua engineering science and technology award, the environmental chemistry lifetime achievement award, the international asaaq special contribution award, etc. he has won 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 1 third prize in the national science and technology progress award, and many provincial and ministerial awards.
