after the fire broke out, there were several fire trucks at the scene and firefighters were putting out the fire. some trapped people followed the firefighters and climbed down the ladder from the third floor. two other trapped people were rescued by a crane.

a local villager said that the fire started in a cloth shop near dongming bridge. there was a warehouse below with a lot of cloth piled up. the building that caught fire was a self-built house with about seven floors.

on the afternoon of the 18th, da wan news reporter contacted a sichuan restaurant near the scene of the incident. the owner of the restaurant told the reporter that the fire started at about 12 noon. "the open fire has been put out, and there is still a little black smoke. everything inside has been burned out. our store is near the fire point, and the power is out now."
